From creating the historic STAR and Enhanced STAR programs, to enacting property tax rebate legislation, the Senate Republican Majority has consistently led the fight to provide hardworking families with property tax relief.
We also helped enact the state’s Property Tax Cap – a landmark measure which has proven to be one of the most successful tax relief initiatives in State history. Over the past four years the property tax cap has saved hardworking homeowners across the state more than $7.6 billion.
As you are probably aware, the cap limits the annual growth in school and municipal property taxes to two percent or the rate of inflation. Unfortunately, this important law will expire if the State Legislature doesn’t act soon to extend the tax cap or make it permanent.
The State Senate is taking action now to make the tax cap permanent in order to ensure that we never return to the days of skyrocketing budgets and spiraling tax increases.
If you agree that New York cannot afford to let the tax cap expire, I hope you will join my Keep the Cap Campaign below.
By working together, we can get the State Assembly to join with us in protecting and extending the tax cap without delay.
